It is common for fuel oil ring-mains to be electrically trace heated as well as steamed in certain instances, which will enable the heavy duty oil to be maintained at a temperature around the 80/100C region, when feeding the burners for factory boilers etc. Should the steam fail, the electrical trace heating would obviously be essential in order to ensure that the factory remains operational.
