It is common for fuel oil ring-mains to be electrically trace heated as well as steamed in certain instances, which will enable the heavy duty oil to be maintained at a temperature around the 80/100°C region, when feeding the burners for factory boilers etc. Should the steam fail, the electrical trace heating would obviously be essential in order to ensure that the factory remains operational.
